ARTIST
Arkiv Vilmansa
BACKGROUND
B. 1979 BANDUNG, INDONESIA
Indonesian contemporary artist Arkiv Vilmansa’s recognizable cartoon-inspired paintings focus on two-dimensional forms through vivid colors and pronounced outlines. Originally trained in architecture, Vilmansa’s structured and critical methodology contrast with his raw and unrestrained artistic expression. By developing a formula to control painting surfaces and paint texture, Vilmansa’s pop cultured-inspired works explore non-figurative art and cartoon character paintings through the use of color, organic shapes and canvas shapes. The influences behind his colors, shapes and lines include creative industry leaders Takashi Murakami and NIGO.
